Your body knows how to heal.
Your body is the most intelligent resource available for healing yourself. Sure, we all have our blocks or self-inflicted conditions, but who else heals a cut for us? Our bodies do that! Our deepest healing happens when we work with that intelligence and to facilitate whole-body changes from within. One of the most therapeutic aspects of craniosacral therapy is the reorientation of the body towards health, safety, and life. Such a reorientation creates change on a many levels, from bodily pains or tensions to mental, emotional and behavioral patterns. Ultimately, it's about rediscovering a deeper relationship with life itself.
Engaged healing - Ripple effects.
I discovered early on in my healing work that people who are able to engage in their own healing process got far more out of sessions. When change is not just about stretching a muscle, it's about getting to know yourself better, that process can affect everything from your pain levels to your life choices. I'm interested in efficient healing, and I see that happen when the whole body gets involved.
What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)?
Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy is a subtle and profound hands-on therapy that interacts with the whole body system on many levels. It is particularly helpful as a holistic healing approach to injury, trauma, nervous system, and physiological-emotional issues.
What kinds of conditions respond well to BCST?
Because BCST is about activating and allowing the body's own internal healing abilities, it can be an effective approach to a wide variety of conditions. Some common conditions that people find improved with BCST include the following:
- Pain relief (acute and chronic)
- Nervous system imbalances (eg. anxiety, hypervigilance, fatigue)
- Neck injuries / related tension
- Chronic back pain
- Sciatica
- Anxiety, depression
- Insomnia
- Sinus infections
- TMJ / jaw tightness, pain
- Dental recovery
- Neural disorders
- Migraines / Headaches
- Digestive problems
- Hormonal imbalances
- Pregnancy preparation & post-partum recovery
- Birth trauma in infants and adults
- Earaches / Chronic ear infections

A gentle facilitation
The emphasis in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is to help resolve the trapped forces that underlie and govern patterns of disease and fragmentation in both body and mind. This involves the practitioner "listening through the hands" to the body's subtle rhythms and any patterns of inertia or congestion. Through the development of subtle palpatory skills the practitioner can read the story of the body, identify places where issues are held and then follow the natural priorities for healing as directed by the patient¹s own physiology.
The intention of treatment is to facilitate the expression of the Breath of Life and so enhance the body's own self-healing and self-regulating capabilities. This is done in a non-invasive way as the practitioner subtly and gently encourages the conditions that allow for the reemergence of primary respiratory motion. Furthermore, the practitioner's deep and clear quality of presence can become a reflective mirror for the patient and an invaluable cue for their potential for change.
A holistic approach
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy takes a whole-person approach to healing and the inter-connections of mind, body and spirit are deeply acknowledged. It is an effective form of treatment for a wide range of illnesses helping to create the optimal conditions for health, encouraging vitality and facilitating a sense of well-being. It is suitable for people of all ages including babies, children and the elderly, and can be effective in acute or chronic cases.
"Worms will not eat living wood where the vital sap is flowing;
rust will not hinder the opening of a gate when the hinges are used each day.
Movement gives health and life.
Stagnation brings disease and death."
- proverb in traditional Chinese Medicine
